Africa Sustainability and Advocacy Manager

Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics

(en) Adwoa Coleman is the Sustainability & Advocacy Manager for Dow’s Packaging and Specialty Plastics (P&SP) Business in Africa. In this role, she is responsible for developing and implementing the P&SP Sustainability strategy for Africa in alignment with the business plan and global sustainability strategy. Working to develop and implement innovative waste management programs to improve plastic waste collection and recycling in Africa. She works closely with global teams to promote a circular economy for plastics and influence industry programs to grow and promote the plastics industry and benefits of plastic packaging. She has notably been involved in the formation of the Ghana Recycling Initiative by Private Enterprises (GRIPE) and currently manages multiple projects across the continent aimed at ending plastic pollution in the environment. Prior to this role, she was the Product Safety & Compliance Specialist for Dow in West Africa and in the past has held positions in previous jobs as a validation engineer for liquids and lyophilized vaccines at Merck in West Point, Pennsylvania and as a Production Engineering technician at Johnson Matthey Pharmaceuticals also in Pennsylvania. Adwoa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She speaks English (Fluent), Portuguese (Intermediate) & French (basic). She is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

À ce titre, elle est responsable de l’élaboration et de la mise en œuvre de la stratégie de développement durable pour les activités d’emballage et de plastique en Afrique, conformément à la stratégie mondiale de développement durable du groupe. Elle travaille en étroite collaboration avec des équipes internationales pour promouvoir une économie circulaire dans le secteur du plastique et influence les programmes industriels visant à développer et à promouvoir l'industrie du plastique et les avantages des emballages en plastique.
