Djamel Abdelkader Zighed is professor at Lyon University . Since September 2016, Zighed has been in charge of the 'Digital Direction' at the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF). Previously ( from 2011-2015) he was the Director for the Institut des Sciences de l’Homme of Lyon, a research federation of 23 laboratories of Lyon University and CNRS. He specialises in Big Data and particularly in machine learning methodology. In 1995, he founded the research laboratory focused on storage, representation and knowledge engineering (ERIC) at the University Lyon 1 and Lyon 2. He was also the director of this laboratory for 20 years.
Zighed is also the co-founder and co-director of the Revue des Nouvelles Technologies de l’Information (RNTI). He created the french-speaking association for extraction and knowledge management (EGC) and was its president for four years. He has taught in a variety of universities in France and abroad and has created a series of professional trainings about data processing and its applications in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
