Peter Dohmen

Peter Dohmen was born in 1958 in Heerlen in The Netherlands. He started his military careerat the Royal Military Academy in Breda. His first appointment was that of maintenance officer in the 41st (NL) Armoured Brigade in Germany where he gained solid experience in operational logistics. In 1987 he began his studies at the Technical University in Eindhoven where he obtained a Master’s degree (MSc) in Industrial Engineering.

After working in several policy-making positions in both logistics and Command & Control (C4I) areas, he served as Battalion Commander as well as Commander of all high-level static maintenance facilities of the Royal Netherlands Army where he further broadened his experience in leading large organizations.

In 2002 he was assigned as Assistant Chief of Staff Command Group (ACOS CG4) in the headquarters of the 1 German/Netherlands Corps in Münster (GE) and deployed to Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan in 2003.

After his return from Kabul he joined the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) in London where he obtained a second Master’s degree in International Studies from the University of London.

In 2012 he was appointed Director for Projects & Procurement. In this position he was responsible for all major armaments projects as well as for all related procurement aspects. After restructuring the Defence Materiel Command in 2013, he held the position of Director Materiel Logistics. His responsibilities were then expanded to include the Life Cycle Management of all major weapon systems and the (joint) supply of ammunition, clothing & personnel equipment and fuel & lubricants. He then assumed the post of Deputy Director of the Defence Material Organization while also overseeing the complete IT domain of the Netherlands Forces and acting as the Deputy National Armaments Director.
