This dedicated session on Circular Economy and Green Industries will communicate and promote sustainable and resource-efficient policies, with a focus on the European strategy in Africa for plastics and waste management. The EU is currently leading in the introduction of a Circular Economy approach and has an interest in building a strong partnership and cooperation with Africa to enhance opportunities for sustainable growth and the creation of local employment. The partnership recognizes the role of the circular economy in boosting job creation, economic integration, and trade.
The session will bring together authorities and experts from the EU and Africa to identify challenges and opportunities for circular economy and green industries. By so doing the session aims to make a contribution towards making a strong EU-Africa alliance a reality as per the vision of EU Commission President-elect von der Leyen.
This dedicated session is in collaboration with the Directorate General for the Environment at the European Commission.

- How would the definition of the circular economy need to be adapted for Africa?
- What types of support and or incentives do African businesses need - to engage in circular economy practices?
